About

I’m Sophia Theoktisto, a film and digital photographer originally from Venezuela, raised in New York, and now based in Málaga, Spain after also spending time in Miami. I photograph love stories around the world and have had a camera in my hands for as long as I can remember.
Growing up in a Venezuelan family meant growing up around a lot of emotion and closeness. Family and connection are a big part of the culture, and people tend to be expressive and warm in the way they communicate and celebrate life. That background shaped the way I read people and moments. It naturally led me to gravitate toward the candid, nostalgic, heartfelt interactions that happen throughout a wedding day.
Living in New York shaped another side of my eye. Being surrounded by fashion, movement, and constantly changing seasons made me pay attention to style, light, and composition. That perspective developed into the subtle editorial feel that runs through my work.
Before photography, I worked as an environmental engineer and I still stay involved in conservation work for animals. I’ve always felt connected to nature, which often influences the landscapes and natural light I’m drawn to when photographing.
Being based in southern Spain makes it easy for me to travel across Europe and internationally for weddings. My approach blends candid storytelling with an editorial sensibility, always focusing on moments that feel genuine, emotional, and timeless.
